| A Note from Stand Up, Mama! Happy Mother's Day, Mama! I hope that you are absolutely cherished and pampered this Mother's Day weekend. I apologize for the l-o-n-g delay in sending this issue out. I've been busy writing - especially new stand-up comedy material to inspire me to get back onstage again. If I'm coaching my clients to pursue their passions, then I need to do it too. Yesterday, I attended a special luncheon held at the Rainbow Room in New York to launch ClubMom (a free national membership organization for moms). ClubMom was founded by Meredith Viera (co-host of The View) and Andrew Shue ("Billy" from "Melrose Place"). I was so impressed by the mission of this organization that I've included the highlights of the lunch as the featured article this month. Please do forward this issue to as many of your mom friends as you can. We have some nice freebies this month (and a very funny article "Flashing the Fedex Man!) which I would love you and your friends to enjoy. Take care, Sally Robertson Life Coach & Founder of Stand Up, Mama! |
| ClubMom: Recognizing the Challenges and Rewards of Motherhood ... I was thrilled to be invited to the national launch of ClubMom. I was invited as a life coach for mothers which qualified me as someone who understands (and is living) the unique challenges faced by moms. A delicious three course meal at the Rainbow Room with Meredith Viera and Andrew Shue sitting at the next table. It's a tough job, Mamas, but someone's got to do it and I am so grateful that that someone is me! Meredith spoke about how the idea of ClubMom came from Andrew Shue when they met for coffee at Starbucks almost 4 years ago. Now, I'm not an envious woman but can you imagine a life where you have coffee with Andrew Shue? No really, just stop for a moment and imagine it ... Click here to read the full article ... |
| Flashing the Fedex Man ... This is one of the funniest articles I've read on the reality of being a Mom. "As I waited for my 2-year-old daughter to finish her turn on the toilet, I idly studied my reflection in the restaurant's full-length bathroom mirror. In jeans and platform slides, I looked almost young. A recent bout of stomach flu had left me fashionably thin, and I wore lipstick for a change.Combing my hair with my fingers, I felt suddenly optimistic and carefree. We zipped up and washed hands, then crossed the café to our table. As I squeezed into my chair, I bumped the man behind me. He looked up from his lunch and smiled admiringly. "You know what?" said my daughter. "My mommy made a poo." This was a new phase of parenthood. One day my daughter was a harmless cherub, the next she wasn't. The moment she handed the electrician a pair of my underpants from the basket of dirty laundry, I realized precautions would have to be taken to safeguard what remained of my dignity. ..."
